Our community will gather to remember and honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice. The events begin at 5:30 a.m. with the set up of more than 300 coffin-sized flags throughout the cemetery. At 9 a.m., there will be a Memorial Service. At 4 p.m., the flags will be removed.
A meaningful gathering to come together in honor and remembrance. This ceremony typically includes: Presentation of The Colors, guest speakers, a Moment of Silence, wreaths or floral tributes.
The founder and leader of Warrioress League 209, Sarom Teiv, will be the guest speaker at a Memorial Day ceremony. Teiv’s Army career spans 21 years, in which she deployed to combat missions in Iraq and Afghanistan, provided humanitarian efforts during Hurricane Katrina, and was a peacekeeper in Kosovo and Macedonia. Presented by VFW Luneta Post 52, this ceremony brings together veterans, families, and community members for a formal tribute to those who gave their lives in service. The ceremony includes: Formal program and remarks, recognition of service and sacrifice and community fellowship. Lunch and refreshments will foll at the VFW Luneta Post 52 Canteen.
